A Sudden Medical Emergency

Shortly after his wedding, Parker became critically ill while at work and was rushed to the emergency room. He developed severe chemical-induced pneumonia, which caused catastrophic damage to his lungs. The chemicals he was exposed to led to rapid lung failure, leaving him unable to breathe on his own.

A Life–Saving Machine

Doctors placed Parker on an ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) machine, a highly specialized machine that takes over the work of the heart and lungs. This machine quite literally saved his life by giving his body time while doctors searched for the next step.

Transport and Transplant

Parker was transported to Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where doctors determined he would need a double lung transplant.

Family Support

Throughout this entire journey, Parker’s wife, mother, and father rented an apartment near Vanderbilt so they could remain by his side every step of the way. Their constant presence, prayers, and support have been a vital part of his recovery.

A Miracle in Motion

Today, Parker is recovering and doing remarkably well. He remains in Nashville for continued care but is steadily gaining strength and hoping to return home very soon.

Because of this miracle, Parker can once again:

A Walking Miracle

Parker Humber is truly a walking miracle. From coding twice, to surviving on ECMO, to receiving a double lung transplant — his story is one of faith, perseverance, skilled medical care, and the power of prayer.
